After a long break - since Nov. 6 - I finally got another warp on the loom. Let's see if I remember to have a warp wound and ready as soon as these baby blankets are done. Since I have to have some twill samples ready by the middle of January, I think that should be next on my list.

Back to Weaving
After a long break - since Nov. 6 - I finally got another warp on the loom. Let's see if I remember to have a warp wound and ready as soon as these baby blankets are done. Since I have to have some twill samples ready by the middle of January, I think that should be next on my list.
Blending
While taking a retreat class with Deb Menz at SOAR in October, we learned how to strip several different painted rovings and then blend them by attenuating together. Below are three strips from the rovings - and the resulting nests - all ready to spin.
I wanted to be able to make something from the roving spun in the class (3 ounces) so I spun a soft single, with plans for a scarf.
I've started the scarf, which will have a pattern on each end for about 10" and then garter stitch the for the middle. There's not enough done for a picture yet.

How Deer
They're back!!! Don't be taken in by this peaceful grazing scene. They have completed obliterated my roses. You may not want to be near them when they burp up those thorns.
They've knocked down the fence behind the shed, but I guess the don't hold to the superstition of leaving the way they came in.
"Hey, guys, smile for the camera."

Winding a Warp
The pool table is still here. The guy never showed up. So I only got about half way through winding the warp for the rosepath baby blankets on Sunday. I just can't seem to get the energy to go downstairs and stand there after being on my feet all day. I tried pulling up a bar stool, but it was a little awkward and I couldn't help thinking I needed a drink! (not good for me on a school night)
Here's my problem: I don't mind winding three bouts for this 480 end warp, but it seems like I shouldn't have to. There's plenty of room on the reel, but the warp bunches up at the bottom. This happens whether I use the peg right after the corner or not.
Any suggestions?
